Jharkhand Government fixes the minimum wage rates for workmen

The government of Jharkhand on June 28th 2024, notified the rate of minimum wage to be fixed for the different categories of workmen of any category or class under the Jharkhand Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Rules, 1972.

In absence of any agreed-upon rate of wage for a specific employment of any category or class of workmen, the contractor is obligated to pay the fixed wages on monthly basis.

Draft HPERC (Short Term Open Access )(Second Amendment) Regulations,2024

Draft Himachal Pradesh Electricity Commission (Short Term Open Access) (Second Amendment) Regulations ,2024 further to amend the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Short Term Open Access) Regulation 2010. The application fee for open access customer has been increased from Rs.5,000 to Rs.15,000. Also, operational charges has been revised.
Any objections or suggestions shall be made to Secretary, HPERC on or before 3rd August, 2024.

Paid leave on event of Bye-elections in Himachal Pradesh

The Government of Himachal Pradesh vide circular dated 2nd July, 2024 declares special paid holiday in light of Bye-elections. July 10th 2024, is designated as a gazetted holiday for employees employed under all Government offices/ Boards/ Corporations, Educational Institutions and Industrial Establishments in 10-Dehra, 38- Hamirpur and 51- Nalagarh Assembly constituencies, Himachal Pradesh.

Govt. of Haryana seeks decriminalization status of Identified Acts

The Government of Haryana directs all the Administrative Secretaries to ensure prompt action by provide requisite information regarding decriminalization of Acts related to their departments.
A list of identified acts are provided for each department which is attached to the circular herein and the departments are directed to review and provide the decriminalization status via email-admnreformshry@gmail.com without further delay to enable action in this matter.

Karnataka Government releases Draft bill to regulate Social Security and Welfare of Gig Workers

Draft Karnataka Platform-Based Gig Workers (Social Security and Welfare) Bill seeks to regulate the social security and welfare of platform-based gig workers in the State by establishing a fund to be called, the Karnataka Gig Worker’s Social Security and Welfare Fund and the establishment of the Gig Workers Welfare Board. Objections and suggestions from persons likely to be affected may be addressed to the Principal Secretary to the government, Labour Department on or before 10th July, 2024

Paid holiday on the account of Bye-elections in Punjab

The Punjab Government on 24th June 2024 declared paid holiday to the voters of Jalandhar West (SC) constituency, who are employees working across any shops and commercial establishments situated in the State of Punjab to enable them to cast their votes on account of Bye-elections 2024 to Vidhan Sabha.

As per the circular, 10-07-2024 falling on Wednesday will be declared as Closed day for voters of 34 – Jalandhar West (SC) Assembly Constituency, Punjab.

Paid leave on the event of Bye-elections declared by Government of Haryana

The Government of Haryana on 28th June 2024, announced holiday with wages on account of Bye-elections on 10th July 2024 (Wednesday) only for those employees employed under any shops and commercial establishments falling with the jurisdiction of the State of Haryana and who have been enrolled as voters in Legislative Assembly Constituencies of 04-Badrinath & 33-Manglaur of Uttarakhand and 34- Jalandhar West (SC) of Punjab to enable them to cast their votes in respective constituencies.

The Gujarat Laws (Amendment Of Provisions) Ordinance, 2024

The Government of Gujarat on July 1, 2024, issued the Gujarat Laws (Amendment Of Provisions) Ordinance, 2024 to further amend the provisions of the Acts made by the State Of Gujarat to give effect to the references to the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA), 2023 in place of reference to the Indian Penal Code, 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 and the Evidence Act, 1872 respectively in the said Acts.

DoT amends the Scope of IP-1 Registration

DoT amends the Scope of IP-1 Registration vide notification dated 27.6.2024. As per the Guidelines for Registration of Infrastructure Providers Category-1, the Infrastructure Providers Category-1 are those IPs who provide and maintains asset such as dark fibres, Right of Way, duct space & tower. However, as per the latest amended clause of IP-1 registration, IP who provide and maintain asset such as POLES are also included under the IP-1 Category.
