UGC directions regarding the UGC (Redressal of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2023
Ombudspersons of the Universities are requested to take necessary steps to make the students aware about the implementation of the UGC Student Grievances Regulations, 2023 in your university. It is also requested to organize at least one meeting of the Ombudsperson(s) every six months at the beginning of the semester with the students.
Surrogacy (Regulation) Amendment Rules, 2024
The amendment provides that the couple undergoing surrogacy must have both gamete from the intending couple. However, in case when the District Medical Board certifies that either husband or wife constituting the intending couple suffers from medical condition necessitating use of donor gamete then surrogacy using donor gamete is allowed subject to the condition that the child to be born through surrogacy must have at least one gamete from the intending couple.
Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Amendment Rules
The amendments empower consumers living in multistoried flats in choosing their connection type and ensure separate billing for common areas and back-up generators in residential societies, thus enhancing transparency. The amendments also provide for check meters to be installed by distribution company in case of consumer complaints, to verify electricity consumption.
Ayush and Tribal Affairs Ministries Announce Joint Initiative on Public Health of Tribal Students
The project aims at screening the general health condition of the students enrolled in classes 6th to 12th. The screening will be carried out in selected 55 Ekalavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) spread across 14 states of the country. The special focus is on Anaemia, Haemoglobinopathies, Malnutrition & Tuberculosis. Efforts will be made to inculcate healthy lifestyle practices among students as per the principles of Ayurveda. Also, an integrated approach will be made for the management of the diseases.
The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has notified the National Pension System Trust (Second Amendment) Regulations 2023 and Pension Fund (Amendment) Regulations 2023
The amendments to NPS Trust Regulations simplify the provisions related to appointment of Trustees, their terms and conditions, holding of meetings of Board of Trustees and appointment of CEO – NPS Trust. Amendments to Pension Fund Regulations simplify the provisions related to governance of Pension Funds in line with Companies Act, 2013 and enhanced disclosure by Pension Funds.
Empowering Education: RUSA Project Transformations in 28 State Colleges
The activities of the ROOS project were completed in conjunction with 28 colleges in Kerala. The completed projects were handed over to the Minister of Higher Education and Social Justice. The minister emphasized the need to encourage children to participate in research-oriented activities from the beginning.

Tamil Nadu Government announces that the 7.91% TAMIL NADU UDAY BOND 2024 will be repaid on March 22, 2024, along with accrued interest until March 21, 2024. If March 22, 2024, is declared a holiday by any State Government, repayment will be made on the preceding working day. No further interest will be accrued after March 22, 2024.
