FSSAI issues identity standards for Basmati Rice
These standards specify various identity and quality parameters for basmati rice such as average size of grains and their elongation ratio after cooking; maximum limits of moisture, amylose content, uric acid, defective/damaged grains and incidental presence of other non-basmati rice etc.
IBBI issues an Order in the matter of Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts
The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI) has issued an Order in the matter of Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts. This Order disposes of the Show Cause Notice (‘SCN’), dated 20th September 2022 issued to the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (‘ACVA”). While disposing of the SCN, the Order issued a warning to the ACVA that it should be extremely careful and diligent in its organizational processes and follow the directions of the Authority in letter and spirit.
MCA Invites public comments on changes being considered to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has issued a public notice inviting comments on changes being considered to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016. The notice was issued on 18th January, 2023. The changes the the IBC are being considered in order to strengthen its functioning. he public is invited to submit their suggestion/comments, if any, along with brief justification. These may be submitted online on the weblink latest by 5:30 PM on 7th February, 2023.
RBI issues Guidelines on Acquisition and Holding of Shares or Voting Rights in Banking Companies
RBI has issued Guidelines on Acquisition and Holding of Shares or Voting Rights in Banking Companies. These Guidelines were issued on 16th January, 2023. The Guidelines state that Every person intending to acquire shares or voting rights and to become a major shareholder of a banking company must obtain prior approval of the RBI. Such person shall make an application to the RBI along with the declaration in Form A.

GST Council issues Advisory for taxpayers facing issues in filing GSTR-3B
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued a notification on Advisory for taxpayers facing issues in filing GSTR-3B. The advisory was issued on 16th January, 2023. The facility of filing of TRAN (Transition) forms was made available for aggrieved taxpayers from October 01, 2022, to November 30, 2022. It has been observed by GSTN that, a few taxpayers have submitted their forms on the portal but did not finally file it within the specified time.
FSSAI CEO reviews Food Safety Ecosystem of Telangana
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) inspected the status of food safety ecosystem including surveillance, food testing infrastructure, implementation of Eat Right India initiatives, manpower etc. in the state of Telangana. A press release to this effect was issued by the FSSAI on 17th January, 2023.
