AP Govt Rings in Eid-ul-Fitr with a Chic Optional Holiday

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has declared April 1, 2025 (Tuesday) as an optional holiday, following the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramzan). The notification, issued by the General Administration Department, was made public on March 31, 2025 .

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. The government’s decision to declare an optional holiday allows employees to observe the occasion with their families and communities

An optional holiday means that government employees have the choice to take the day off, but it is not mandatory. Those who wish to work on April 1 can do so, while others can choose to celebrate or take rest on the occasion.

This move reflects the government’s sensitivity to the religious and cultural significance of Eid, providing flexibility for public sector employees across the state.

With this declaration, the Andhra Pradesh government once again demonstrates its commitment to striking a balance between public service and cultural observance, while promoting harmony within the state.
