Andhra Pradesh Government Announces Official Holidays for 2025

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has released the official list of holidays for the year 2025, on December 6th 2024 detailing the general and optional holidays for State Government employees. This move provides clear guidance on the days when offices will remain closed, as well as those when employees can take optional leave.

General Holidays for 2025

The following table outlines the General Holidays for 2025, which will be observed across all State Government offices. Please note that holidays falling on Second Saturdays and Sundays are excluded from this list, as indicated in Annexure-I(A).

Exclusion of Holidays on Sundays and Second Saturdays

In addition to the specific public holidays, the Andhra Pradesh government has also declared that all Sundays and Second Saturdays throughout the year will be observed as holidays for government offices. As a result, employees will have these weekends off, along with the designated holidays listed above.

Optional Holidays for 2025

State Government employees are allowed to avail themselves of Optional Holidays, which they can choose based on their personal preferences. However, employees can take no more than five optional holidays during the year. These holidays are provided for various festivals and occasions, and the list includes the following:

Important Notes on Holidays:

  1. Moon-Sighting Holidays: Islamic festivals such as Ramzan, Bakrid, Moharrum, and others may see a change in dates depending on the moon sighting. Any date adjustments will be publicly announced through the media.
  2. Exemption for Certain Institutions: Industrial establishments, Public Sector Undertakings, and Educational Institutions are not bound by the general holidays. Separate holiday orders will be issued for these organizations by their respective administrative departments.
  3. Optional Holidays: Employees can select up to five optional holidays throughout the year based on personal preference, irrespective of the festival’s religious significance.
