The Kerala Government, under the Employment and Skill Department, has issued a notification concerning the Unorganized Workers Social Security Scheme. This amendment is based on the powers vested in the government by the Unorganized Workers Social Security Act, 2008, and the Kerala Unorganized Workers Social Security Rules, 2010. The Kerala State Unorganized Workers Welfare Board, in its meeting on February 12, 2019, approved a resolution that impacts the Karunya Arogya Suraksha Yojana (KAS), a health insurance scheme. The State Health Agency, managing KAS by integrating RSBY/CHS/CHS Plus, has been instructed to cease adding new members. Additionally, the scheme has been revised to offer a maximum benefit of ₹75,000 for inpatient treatment within the membership period for members and their families. This amendment aims to enhance healthcare accessibility for unorganized workers in Kerala. This notification was published on August 21, 2024.
