Aadhaar Now Essential for Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana

On October 10, 2024, the Co-operative Department of Rajasthan announced a significant update regarding the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, making Aadhaar a mandatory identity document for beneficiaries.

What Is the Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana?

The Chief Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana provides an annual benefit of ₹2,000 to farmers who are also beneficiaries of the PM-Kisan Yojana. This amount is distributed in three installments: ₹1,000 for the first installment and ₹500 each for the second and third installments. By ensuring that funds reach eligible farmers directly, the scheme promotes financial support in a seamless manner.

Why Aadhaar?

The use of Aadhaar as an identity document simplifies the process of claiming benefits. It reduces the need for multiple documents to prove identity, allowing beneficiaries to access their entitlements more conveniently.

Key Requirements for Beneficiaries

Aadhaar Authentication:

Eligible individuals must provide their Aadhaar number or undergo Aadhaar authentication.

Those without an Aadhaar number must enroll before registering for the scheme.

Enrollment Support:

The Co-operative Department will assist individuals in enrolling for Aadhaar, especially in areas where enrollment centers are not available.

Temporary Document Acceptance:

If an individual has enrolled for Aadhaar but has not yet received their number, they can present the Aadhaar Enrolment Identification slip along with one of the following documents:

  • PAN Card
  • Voter ID
  • Passport
  • Ration Card
  • Driving License, etc.

Addressing Authentication Challenges

In cases where Aadhaar authentication fails due to poor biometrics, several remedial measures will be in place:

  • Alternative Methods: Iris scans or facial recognition will be used if fingerprint authentication is unsuccessful.
  • One-Time Password (OTP): Where applicable, beneficiaries can authenticate using an Aadhaar OTP.
  • Physical Aadhaar Letter: Benefits may also be granted based on a physical Aadhaar letter, verified via a QR code.

Ensuring Awareness

To ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are informed about these changes, the department will carry out a wide-reaching media campaign.
