The Ministry of Education (MoE) vide notification dated August 18, 2022 has issued a notification to allow the use of Aadhaar authentication services for the purpose of the Student, Teacher, and Teacher Educator Registry. As per new data empowerment principles, students or parents or teachers shall be in full control of their educational data records in a machine-readable, digitally-signed, printable, and portable manner.
All education services, data, and applications shall be held at multiple levels – namely National, State, and local levels, in a decentralized manner. A set of interoperable electronic registries at appropriate level (National, State and school) will be enabled based on a common registry scheme that allows seamless information interchange between various systems.
Aadhaar authentication services shall be for the purpose of this common registry scheme.
