The Jharkhand pollution control board has issued an illustrative pictorial Guidelines for Handling, collection, segregation and disposal of Biomedical wastes generated in Hospitals, Quarantine camps & Houses dealing with COVID 19.
According to the guidelines, healthcare facilities dealing with COVID-19 patients needs to keep separate color-coded bins/bags/containers in wards and maintain proper segregation of waste as per BMWM Rules, 2016. As precaution double layered bags (using 2 bags) should be used for the collection of waste from COVID-19 isolation wards so as to ensure no-leaks.

Biomedical waste collected in isolation wards can also be lifted directly from the ward into CBWTF collection van. A separate record of waste generated from COVID-19 must be maintained and the inner and outer surface of the containers/bins/trolleys used for storage of COVID-19 waste should be disinfected with 1 percent sodium hypochlorite solution daily. Further the health care workers must be provided with a mask, face shield, goggles, cap gloves, apron, etc.
