The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change vide its notification dated 18th March 2020 has published the Environment (Protection) Amendment Rules, 2020.
The Amendment is brought under Rule 5 which deals with Prohibitions and Restrictions on the location of industries and the processes and operations in different areas in which the Central Government may within 725 days from such day of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette, impose prohibition or restrictions on location of such industries and the carrying on of any process or operation in an area.
The Central Government shall impose the above prohibition only after taking into consideration all the objections received on the notification on restricting the location.
