The Central Government has issued a Notification dated 7th November, 2019, extending the expiry of the status of public utility service enjoyed by Copper Mining Industry. Central Government has declared the Copper Mining Industry to be a Public Utility Service for the purposes of the Industrial Disputes Act,1947 for a period of six months from 11th April, 2019 vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
The Central Government has concluded, upon expiry of the six months, that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status enjoyed by the said industry. Central Government has thereby declared the services engaged in the copper mining industry to be a public utility service for a period of six months with effect from the date of publication of the notification.
