The MINISTRY OF LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT on December 11th 2024 declares the services of the industry engaged in the Food stuffs to be a public utility service for the purposes of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 for a period of six months .
What Does the Declaration Mean?

Six-Month Duration
The status of public utility service will be effective for a period of six months, starting from 9th May, 2024. This decision was formalized through a notification issued by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on 7th May, 2024. Legal Basis for the Decision
The decision was made in accordance with the powers granted under sub-clause (vi) of clause (n) of section 2 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
