The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced an update regarding the verification process for Additional Qualification (AQ) certificates. This change applies to registered medical practitioners seeking NMC certification for higher medical qualifications obtained through the National Board of Education in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
The NMC is responsible for issuing AQ certificates to registered medical practitioners who acquire additional medical qualifications. These qualifications are verified by the NMC to ensure their authenticity before issuing the certificate.
New Online Portal for Verification
Previously, NMC verified qualifications directly with issuing institutions. However, NBEMS has implemented a new online system called the “Credential Verification Online Portal (CVOP)” to streamline this process.
What Medical Practitioners Need to Do
- If you have completed an additional medical qualification through NBEMS and seek an AQ certificate from the NMC, you must now follow the new verification process.
- Visit the NBEMS website and navigate to the “Digital Services” tab to access the CVOP portal.
- Pay the prescribed fee for verification through NBEMS’s Miscellaneous Fee Payment Portal.
- Include a clear copy of your payment receipt within your online AQ application under the “Relevant PG document, if any” section.
- The NMC will only be able to submit a verification request to NBEMS once the applicant has successfully paid the fee.
The online CVOP system is expected to improve the efficiency and transparency of the verification process for medical practitioners seeking NMC’s AQ certificates. This streamlined system will likely offer faster processing times and smoother communication between applicants, NBEMS, and the NMC.
