The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced an update to the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Order 2019). This revision comes into effect immediately from December 2, 2024 and supersedes previous versions.
The update emphasizes minimum module efficiency requirements for enlistment. Solar PV modules must comply with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and meet the following efficiency thresholds:
- Category I (Utility/Grid Scale Power Plants): 20.0% for Silicon technology, 19.00% for Cadmium Telluride Thin Film technology.
- Category II (Rooftop and Solar Pumping): 19.5% for Silicon technology, 18.50% for Cadmium Telluride Thin Film technology.
- Category III (Solar Lighting): 19.0% for Silicon technology, 18.00% for Cadmium Telluride Thin Film technology.
The ALMM List-I was previously updated on October 28th, 2024. The Ministry aims to maintain a current and comprehensive list.
Enlistment in the ALMM List-I is contingent upon a valid BIS registration for the manufacturer. Modules without a valid BIS registration will be delisted.
The notification provides a link to the BIS website (https://www.crsbis.in/BIS/howtoapply.do) where users can verify the registration details (Registration No.) of manufacturers/manufacturing units included in the ALMM List-I. This link allows further exploration of specific BIS certifications, including validity and listed models.
