The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued an order amending the New Solar Power Scheme for Tribal and PVTG Habitations/Villages under PM JANMAN and PM JUGA. This office memorandum was issued on November 28, 2024.
The key amendment involves the renaming of the “PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan (PM JUGA)” to “Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DA JGUA)”. This name change reflects the government’s commitment to the upliftment of tribal communities and the sustainable development of their habitats.
The solar power scheme, implemented under the DA JGUA, aims to provide solar energy solutions to tribal and PVTG habitations/villages, thereby improving their quality of life and reducing their dependence on traditional energy sources.
The MNRE has issued revised guidelines to incorporate this name change. The core objectives and implementation strategies of the scheme remain unchanged.
