Puducherry Hikes Wages for Part-Time Casual Government Workers

The Government of Puducherry has announced a revision in wages for part-time casual laborers (PTCLs) employed by various departments in the Union Territory. This revision is effective from July 1, 2024.

The daily wages for PTCLs have been increased from Rs. 13,500 to Rs. 13,770.

The wage hike aligns with the recent enhancement in Dearness Allowance for regular government employees receiving pay based on the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations.

The revised wages will be applicable retrospectively from July 1, 2024.

The existing guidelines outlined in Office Memorandum No.A. 12030/1/98/F3 dated December 17, 1998, issued by the Puducherry Finance Department, will continue to govern the engagement of PTCLs.

This decision by the Puducherry government aims to improve the wages of PTCLs and bring them closer to the pay received by regular government employees with similar Dearness Allowance benefits.
