Jharkhand Revises Minimum Wages for Scheduled Employments

On October 14, 2024, the Government of Jharkhand announced a significant revision to the minimum wages for 90 scheduled employments, set to take effect from October 1, 2024. This update reflects the state’s commitment to ensuring fair compensation for workers in light of rising living costs.

Understanding the Changes

The revised wages will include a Variable Dearness Allowance, calculated based on the average All India Consumer Price Index for the first half of 2024 (January to June). This adjustment is crucial for protecting the purchasing power of workers and adapting to economic conditions.

Wage Categories and Wages Payable :

The revised minimum wages are structured into three distinct categories based on geographic areas and the Minimum Wages payable include :

A: Ranchi Municipal Corporation, Chas Municipal Corporation, Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, Deoghar Municipal Corporation , Hazaribagh Municipal Corporation and Jamshedpur Notified Area, Mango Municipal Corporation, Jugsalai Municipal Council and Adityapur  Municipal Corporation Areas

B: All Civic body /Municipal Areas and Notified Area except “A” Category

C: Other areas of the state

The notification shall come into effect from October 1^st 2024 .
