Proposed Changes to Deviation Settlement Mechanism Open for Public Feedback

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has invited public comments on proposed amendments to the Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) and Related Matters Regulations. This notice was issued on October 2, 2024.

The draft amendments, titled Draft Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Deviation Settlement Mechanism and Related Matters) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2024 aim to improve the functioning of the electricity market.

What is the Deviation Settlement Mechanism?

The DSM is a system used in the Indian electricity market to ensure grid stability. It penalizes generators who deviate from their scheduled electricity generation or injection.

How to Participate

The CERC is encouraging stakeholders and interested individuals to submit their comments, suggestions, or objections on the proposed amendments. Feedback can be submitted through the following methods:

  1. Send a letter to the Secretary, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, 7th Floor, Tower B, World Trade Centre, Nauroji Nagar, New Delhi 110029.

Deadline for Feedback

All comments and suggestions must be submitted by November 1, 2024. The CERC will consider all feedback received before finalizing the regulations.
