The food safety authorities across the country are intensifying their efforts to prevent adulteration of sweets, savouries, milk, and milk products like ghee, khoya, and paneer. The authorities have intimated the general public of their intension to hold special surveillance drives during this festive season. This notice was dated September 10, 2024.

Concerns about adulteration rise during festive periods due to increased demand for these products. To combat this issue, food safety officers and designated officers are conducting special surveillance and enforcement drives in areas known for such practices.

Food Safety on Wheels (FSWs), where available, are being deployed in prominent markets and areas based on intelligence inputs to monitor food safety.  FSWs are mobile units that have the capability to perform food testing on-the-go.

Strict Vigilance

Authorities are closely monitoring the manufacturing and sale of sweets, savouries, milk, and milk products to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
