East Khasi Hills District to Observe Local Holiday for Unitarian Anniversary Day

The Government of Meghalaya on September 9th 2024 has officially declared a local holiday for all State Government Offices, Revenue and Magisterial Courts, and Educational Institutions in the East Khasi Hills District on the 18th of September, 2024. This closure is in observance of the “Unitarian Anniversary Day.”

What is Unitarian Anniversary Day

Unitarian Anniversary Day is a significant occasion observed by the Unitarian community. This day commemorates the foundation and growth of Unitarianism, a religious movement that emphasizes individual freedom of belief, reason, and the inherent worth of every person. It’s a time for reflection, celebration, and unity among those who identify with Unitarian values.

Impact of the Local Holiday

On this day, residents of the East Khasi Hills District will experience a pause in regular activities due to the closure of various institutions:

  • State Government Offices: Services provided by state departments will be unavailable. Residents are encouraged to complete any essential tasks in advance to avoid inconvenience.
  • Revenue and Magisterial Courts: Legal proceedings and administrative tasks will be halted. Those involved in court cases or legal matters should plan accordingly.
  • Educational Institutions: Schools and colleges will be closed. This provides an opportunity for students and staff to participate in or reflect on the significance of the day.
