The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is seeking public comments on the draft Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India (GHCI). This initiative aligns with the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM), aiming to position India as a global leader in green hydrogen production, utilization, and export. This office memorandum was issued on September 5, 2024.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission
The NGHM envisions India becoming self-sufficient (Atmanirbhar) in clean energy while leading the world’s transition towards a cleaner future. Green hydrogen, produced using renewable electricity, plays a crucial role in this mission.
Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India
The GHCI aims to establish a framework for certifying green hydrogen produced and used in India. This certification will ensure consumers have access to clean and sustainable hydrogen.
MNRE is inviting stakeholders to review the draft GHCI and share their feedback before September 27, 2024. Comments and suggestions can be submitted via email to mdnghm.mnre@gov.in and abhilash.rajwanshi@gov.in.
Public input is essential for developing a robust and effective certification scheme. This scheme can play a significant role in promoting the adoption of green hydrogen in a variety of sectors, leading to a cleaner and more sustainable future for India.
