Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Colleges To Be Connected With AEBAS

The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) has notified amendments to three of its regulations on minimum standards for undergraduate Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani Colleges. These amendments direct Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani colleges to connect to the centralized Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System. The notifications were issued on August 27, 2024.

These amendments focus on strengthening the procuring of biometric attendance data for Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani colleges and ensuring adherence to minimum standards. Key changes include:

These medical colleges and teaching hospitals will be required to implement a centralized Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System to track the attendance of teaching staff, non-teaching staff, hospital staff, postgraduate students, and interns. The Commission will have access to this data for analysis.

Additionally, the amendment for Ayurveda colleges also includes two additional changes:

  • Digital Library and Information Technology Cell: Colleges must establish a Digital Library and Information Technology Cell, with specific timelines for completion.
  • Increased Minimum Constructed Area: The minimum required constructed area for various teaching departments has been increased to ensure adequate space for academic and research activities.

These amendments aim to enhance the quality of education and research in Ayurveda colleges, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and well-equipped learning environment.
