Central Electricity Authority Urges Compliance with Latest Standards

The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has issued an advisory to stakeholders regarding the use of outdated standards in its regulations, standards, guidelines, and brochures. This advisory was issued in August 2024.

The CEA has emphasized the importance of adhering to the latest versions of relevant standards, including amendments, to ensure compliance and maintain safety standards.

One specific example cited by the CEA is the case of relative leakage rates for different gases from Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) compartments. The CEA has clarified that the limits specified in clause 6.16.3 of IEC 62271-2022 or its latest amended version must be followed.

The CEA has urged all stakeholders to review and adopt the latest versions of relevant standards. This will help ensure consistency, safety, and efficiency in the power sector.
