In accordance with the Representation of the People Act, 1951, the Governor of Tripura has declared a closure for all government offices, Magisterial Courts, educational institutions, financial institutions, and other establishments on August 8, 2024 (Thursday) in areas where the Panchayat Elections 2024 are scheduled. This closure is to allow voters to exercise their right to vote. This notification was published on 01/08/2024.
Additionally, August 8, 2024, will be a paid holiday for employees in industrial undertakings and other government establishments under the Factories Act, 1948, including daily-rated and contingent employees, to facilitate their participation in the election.
For individuals registered as voters in the election areas but working outside, special casual leave will be granted to vote. This provision also applies to daily-wage workers. However, this does not apply to employees whose absence could significantly impact their employment.
