Update to Trade Union Recognition Regulations in Kerala

The Government of Kerala has exercised its authority under the Kerala Recognition of Trade Unions Act, 2010, to revise the Kerala Recognition of Trade Unions Rules, 2011. This amendment, announced on July 22, 2024, will take effect immediately. This notification was published on July 26, 2024.

The main change occurs in Rule 5, where the fee previously set at “1000” will be increased to “1150.” This adjustment reflects the government’s decision to update the fee structure that was originally established on April 20, 2011.

The purpose of this notification is to ensure that the fees for trade union recognition remain relevant and appropriate in the current context. Ultimately, the objective is to strengthen the effectiveness of trade unions throughout the state, enhancing their role in representing workers’ interests.
