The government has launched the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX) as part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This digital platform aims to simplify and expedite the health insurance claims process for both insurers and patients. A press release on the platform was issued on July 26, 2024.
NHCX serves as a centralized hub for exchanging claim-related information among insurers, third-party administrators, healthcare providers, and beneficiaries. By standardizing and automating the process, it aims to reduce claim processing time and improve transparency.
As of July 21, 2024, 34 insurers and TPAs are already using NHCX, with approximately 300 hospitals in the process of integration. The platform is expected to benefit millions of policyholders under Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
With the support of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) and General Insurance Council (GIC), NHCX is poised to revolutionize the healthcare landscape in India.
