The Government of India has introduced a Vendor Rating Programme (VRP) as part of its PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This initiative aims to evaluate and rank rooftop solar vendors based on their performance and service quality. This initiative was introduced through an Office Memorandum (OM) was issued on July 24, 2024.
Key Features of the Vendor Rating Programme (VRP)
- Comprehensive Evaluation
The VRP will assess vendors on various parameters, including workmanship, component quality, installation practices, and safety standards.
2. Transparent Ranking
Vendors will be rated and categorized, with top performers recognized as “Champion Vendors.”
The ratings will be displayed on a national portal, enabling consumers to make informed choices when selecting vendors.
3. Implementation
The program is expected to encourage vendors to improve their services and deliver high-quality rooftop solar installations.
The VRP will be integrated into the existing National Portal for the scheme. Both state-level and nationally registered vendors will be evaluated under the program. The National Programme Implementation Agency (NPIA) will oversee the VRP’s implementation.
