Bombay High Court Order Puts Pharmacy College Applications Back on Track

The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has announced it will resume processing applications from certain pharmacy colleges following a Bombay High Court order.

Sant Dnyaneshwar Bahuuddeshiya Sevabhavi Sanstha, a group representing pharmacy colleges, filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court’s Aurangabad Bench. The petition challenged a decision made by the PCI on February 12, 2024.

High Court Order

On May 9, 2024, the High Court issued an order staying the implementation of the PCI’s February decision dated February 12, 2024. The court also directed the PCI to consider the applications from the colleges in question.

PCI Response

In its 409th Executive Committee (EC) meeting held on June 6, 2024, the PCI acknowledged the High Court order.

The PCI confirmed its willingness to process the applications as long as the colleges submit all required documents, including:

  • Consent of Affiliation from the Examining Authority
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Maharashtra State Government
