Department of Telecommunication (DoT) in the year 2022 had issued a Guidelines which advised all
entities engaged in the M2M service provisioning and WPAN/WLAN Connectivity provisioning to
register with DoT by obtaining an registration through a simple and transparent online process via
Saral Sanchar portal ( https://saralsanchar.gov.in ).
The registration shall apply to entities that:
1) Provide M2M services through telecom resources provided by authorized TSPs (including
leased lines, satellite connectivity, etc.) including entities that use M2M services provided by
M2MSPs in connection with its products or as part of its offerings to its end customers; and
2) Use WPAN (e.g., Bluetooth) / WLAN (e.g., WiFi) technologies for providing M2M connectivity
for commercial purposes, in unlicensed spectrum.
In light of the guidelines, DoT had directed all the unregistered entities which included Companies,
Govt. Departments/Organizations, Partnership Firms, LLPs, Institutions, Undertakings, Proprietorship
Firms, Societies and Trusts to obtain the M2MSP and WPAN/WLAN service registration on or before
30 th June, 2024.
Additionally, DoT via notification dated 28 th June, 2024 have further extended the deadline from 30 th
June, 2024 to 30 th September,2024 for all the unregistered entitles to register itself with DoT. Non-
compliance may lead to withdrawal or disconnection of telecom resources obtained from the
Authorized Telecom Licensees.
