The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has issued a notice on the letter received from the the Ministry of Ayush, for the celebration of International Day of Yoga (IDY). This notice was issued on June 20, 2024.
The Ministry of Ayush is the nodal ministry for IDY. It has called for nationwide participation in celebrating the 10th anniversary of this event. In it’s letter, the Ministry highlighted the past nine years of successful IDY celebrations, emphasizing Yoga’s growing international recognition and its benefits for holistic well-being.
The Ministry has organized a series of countdown events across India, culminating in the main celebration today. Additionally, 100 yoga events are planned in various cities, along with a “Yoga with Family” video competition.
Theme and Resources
This year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society,” underscores the practice’s potential to benefit both individuals and communities. The Ministry has prepared a handbook and made digital resources available online to support IDY activities and ensure their success.
Collaboration and Support
The Ministry seeks collaboration from state governments, UTs, and various stakeholders to make IDY 2024 a success. Contact details for Ministry officials and the Central Project Management Unit (CPMU) are provided for assistance.
Action Taken Reports
All pharmacy institutions are encouraged to participate in this celebration and to submit action-taken reports to the Ministry of Ayush, with a copy to the Pharmacy Council of India.
