“Exclusive: Meghalaya Government’s Anti-Child Labor Initiative”

In a significant move aimed at enhancing the enforcement of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986, the Government of Meghalaya has appointed Deputy Labour Commissioners and Assistant Labour Commissioners as ex-officio District Nodal Officers. This strategic decision, in line with instructions from the Ministry of Labour and Employment, India, ensures a focused approach towards eradicating child labor within respective jurisdictions. The appointed officers, stationed across various districts, will play a pivotal role in implementing and enforcing labor laws, thereby safeguarding the rights and well-being of children. This proactive measure underscores the government’s commitment to combating child labor effectively. With these designated officials spearheading efforts at the grassroots level, the state is poised to achieve tangible progress in its mission to eliminate exploitative labor practices and promote the welfare of its youngest citizens.
