BIS Revises Standards On Salts, Flour, Food Dyes and Cutting Tools

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued revised certain standards on Salts, Flour, Food Dyes and Cutting Tools. These notifications were published on May 30 and June 4, 2024.

The BIS has revised standards on the following food products:

  • Common Salt for Fish Curing and
  • Tapioca Flour

It has also revised the standard for the leg band used for poultry.

These standards were established on May 28, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from August 28, 2024.

Additionally, BIS has also revised standards on the following tools:

  • Rubber Draining and Tapping Knife and
  • Dah

Dah is a tool extensively used in cutting trees and clearing jungle growth.

Moreover, BIS has also revised the standard for Food Grade Fast Green FCF. Fast Green FCF is a dye, which belongs to the triphenylmethane group. It is a turquoise triarylmethane food dye.

The revised standards for Rubber Draining and Tapping Knife, Dah and Food Grade Fast Green FCF have been established on May 7, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from August 7, 2024.
