“Tackling Taxation Roadblocks: Karnataka’s Regulatory Revision”

In response to challenges faced by enrolled individuals in fulfilling their tax obligations under the Karnataka Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings, and Employments Act, 1976, the Karnataka government has taken proactive measures. Recognizing the difficulties caused by technical glitches in the tax portal, the government has issued Order No. FD 02 CPT 2024, dated May 30, 2024, to address these issues. This notification was published on May 30, 2024.

This order, titled the “Karnataka Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings, and Employments (Removal of Difficulties) Order, 2024,” amends Section 10 of the Principal Act. Specifically, it extends the deadline for tax payment and return filing for the financial year 2024–25. Individuals enrolled before the fiscal year’s commencement must pay their taxes by the 31st of May, 2024, providing them with additional time to meet their obligations. This amendment demonstrates the government’s commitment to facilitating smoother tax compliance amidst technical challenges, ensuring fairness and efficiency in the taxation process.
