Skill Building in Maharashtra: Japan’s Training Program for State Youths

Japan has been actively supporting skill development initiatives in Maharashtra since 2017, with a focus on providing on-the-job training to selected students under the Technical Intern Training Program. The newly appointed Consul General of Japan in Mumbai revealed that the first batch of students from Maharashtra is set to embark on their training journey in Japan this June. This notification was published on May 31, 2024.

During a recent meeting, it was highlighted that Japan continues to provide financial assistance towards key development projects in India, including the Mumbai Trans Harbor Link ‘Atal Setu,’ the Underground Metro Line ‘Aqua Line,’ and the Bullet Train project. Additionally, the significance of the Pune-Okayama Friendship Garden as a symbol of the strong bond between the two regions was emphasized.

In response, calls were made for further collaboration between universities in Maharashtra and Japan to bolster educational ties and exchange programs. This strategic partnership aims to empower youth with valuable skills and foster long-term cooperation between the two nations.
