BIS Withdraws 47 Indian Standards

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has withdrawn several standards effective from May 10, 2024. This notification was dated May 28, 2024.

BIS was established under the BIS Act 2016 to promote the harmonious development of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods. It seeks to provide safe and reliable quality of goods and minimize health hazards to consumers.

The BIS has decided to withdraw 47 standards covering diverse aspects. Some of these standards pertain to the following:

  • Dielectric Capacitors
  • Resistors
  • Semiconductor Devices
  • Electromechanical Switches for Use in Electronic Equipment
  • Specification for Fixed, Insulated, Hermetically Sealed Tantalum Capacitors with Solid Electrolyte
  • Zoellner’s Pattern
  • Specification for E.E.N.T. (Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat) Diagnostic set
