In a bid to expedite claim settlements and minimize rejections stemming from incomplete documentation, a significant update has been introduced by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). Henceforth, certain eligible cases will no longer mandate the uploading of check leaf images or attested bank passbooks during online claim submissions. This notification was published on 28/05/2024.
This decision, approved by the CPFC, is underpinned by various validation methods, including online bank KYC verification, employer verification via DSC, and Aadhaar number seeding authenticated by UIDAI. This move aims to streamline the process while maintaining security and authenticity standards. To signal this relaxation, a specific message will now appear in the PDF of eligible claims, confirming the completion of the necessary verifications. Additionally, these claims will soon be color-coded for easy identification by processing personnel, minimizing the risk of inadvertent rejections due to missing document uploads.
