Clarification Issued on Solar Panel Requirements for Government Projects

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued a clarification regarding the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2019. This office memorandum was issued on May 20, 2024.

What is the ALMM Order?

  • This order establishes a list of approved solar photovoltaic modules and manufacturers for use in government and government-assisted projects.
  • This ensures quality and reliability of solar panels in these projects.

The clarification emphasizes the applicability of the ALMM Order based on bid submission dates.

  • Applicable Projects: Projects where the final bid submission date was on or after April 10, 2021, must use solar modules from the approved list (List I).
  • Non-Applicable Projects: Projects whose bid submission deadline was before April 6, 2021, are exempt from the ALMM Order requirements for List I (Modules).

This clarification ensures clear guidelines for project developers and promotes the use of high-quality solar panels in government projects.
