BIS Revises Standards On Technical Reports and Manuals, Food Grade Esters and Tofu

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has issued revised certain standards on Technical Reports and Manuals, Food Grade Esters and Tofu. These notifications were published on May 13, 2024.

The BIS has revised standards on the following aspects:

  • Methyl Ester of Beta-Apo-8’-Carotenoic Acid, Food Grade
  • Ethyl Ester of Beta-Apo-8’-Carotenoic Acid, Food Grade
  • Tungsten Rods and Tungsten Wires for Lamps and Electron Devices
  • Thoriated Tungsten Wires and Rods

These standards were established on April 29, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from July 29, 2024.

BIS has also revised standards on:

  • Processing of Microtransparencies
  • Handling and Storage of Microtransparencies
  • Preparation of Bibliographic Description Sheet for Technical Report
  • Presentation of Information in Technical Manuals
  • Graphic Technology

These standards were established on April 24, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from May 24, 2024.

Additionally it has introduced new standards on:

  • Corrosion of Metals and Alloys
  • Tofu and
  • Image Technology Colour Management

These standards were established on April 24, 2024.

Moreover, BIS has also revised standard on Quaternary Ammonium Compound Based Surface Cleaner, Liquid. This standard was established on April 22, 2024 and its previous version will be withdrawn from October 22, 2024.

BIS has also revised standards on:

  • Plastics Containers for Reserve Fuel
  • Brushes, Horse and
  • Vinyl Acetate Monomer

These standards were established on May 7, 2024 and their previous versions will be withdrawn from August 7, 2024.

However, BIS has withdrawn standards are on the following aspects:

  • Specification for Miner’s Cap Lamp Assemblies (Incorporating Lead-Acid Type Batteries)
  • Specification for Zener Barrier for Intrinsically Safe Process Control Instruments

This withdrawal has come into effect from April 29, 2024.
