The Indian Nursing Council (INC) has extended warm wishes to all nurses in India on the occasion of International Nursing Day 2024. A invitation for the celebration of this event was published on May 10, 2024.
International Nursing Day falls on May 12th every year. This date marks the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. Florence Nightingale, also known as the Lady with the Lamp, is regarded as the founder of modern nursing. She was a pioneer in nursing and social care.

This year’s theme for International Nursing Day is “Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care“. The theme highlights the economic and social importance of nurses worldwide.
Established in 1992 by the International Confederation of Midwives, International Day of the Midwife is a day to celebrate and raise awareness about the vital midwifery profession.
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) established International Nurses Day in 1974. The day was marked in recognition of the important role nurses play in healthcare around the world.
To commemorate this event, the INC invites all Nursing and Midwifery faculty and students to join a virtual celebration on May 15, 2024, at 5:00 PM IST. The celebration will be streamed live on Youtube.
