BIS Withdraws Several Standards From April 22nd, 2024

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has withdrawn several standards effective from April 22, 2024. This notification was dated May 7, 2024.

BIS was established under the BIS Act 2016 to promote the harmonious development of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods. It seeks to provide safe and reliable quality of goods and minimize health hazards to consumers.

The BIS has decided to withdraw 25 standards covering diverse aspects. Some of these standards pertain to the following:

  • Code of Practice for Use of Electron Valves
  • Dimensions for High Tension Receptacles for X – Ray Tubes
  • Basic Environmental Testing Procedures for Electronic and Electrical Items
  • Guidance for Environmental Testing
  • Specification for Equipment for Environmental Tests for Electronic and Electrical Items
  • Single Sideband Power Line Carrier Terminals
  • Manual for Planning of (SSB) PLC Systems
  • Basic Testing Procedures and Measuring Methods for Electromechanical Components for Electronic Equipment
  • Installation and Maintenance of Indoor PLC Equipment

All these relevant Indian standards stand cancelled from April 22, 2024.
