UGC has mandated prohibition of use of electronic cigarettes in Higher Education lnstitutions (HEls). It is crucial that our education system actively engages in raising awareness about dangers associated with electronic cigarettes use, aligning with the provisions of Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacture, lmport, Export, Transport, Sale, Distribution, Storage and Advertisement) Act, 2019 (PECA, 2019).
Further, special drives may be conducted through random checking at higher education institutions to ensure that such products are not being used. The Higher Education lnstitutions (HEls) are requested to take all necessary steps in this regard to ensure the success of the initiative.
