In light of the upcoming general elections to the Lok Sabha and bye-election to the 21-Karnal Assembly Constituency in Haryana, scheduled for May 25, 2024, the Office of Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana, has issued a directive to ensure public participation in the electoral process. To facilitate this, the Governor of Haryana has invoked powers under the Factories Act, 1948, to grant a special exemption to adult workers who are registered voters in these elections. From May 26, 2024, to June 1, 2024, these workers will be excused from their duties in factories, with May 25, 2024, designated as a non-working day to allow them to exercise their voting rights.
