The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is inviting public comments on a draft “Manual of Methods of Analysis of Foods-Water.” This manual outlines procedures for testing the safety and quality of food and water products. This notice was published on April 4, 2024.

Before finalizing the manual, FSSAI seeks feedback from stakeholders like food businesses, scientists, and consumers. Comments and suggestions must be submitted by May 4, 2024.

Submission of Comments:

  • Comments should be submitted in the format provided by FSSAI (Annexure-I of the Notice).
  • Submissions must be sent via email to [sp-sampling@fssai.gov.in].

FSSAI emphasizes that comments with supporting scientific evidence will be given greater consideration. This ensures the feedback contributes to a robust and scientifically sound testing manual.

Benefits of the Manual:

  • A standardized manual for food and water testing will ensure consistent and reliable results.
  • This can help identify potential safety hazards and promote overall food safety in India.

By incorporating public feedback and scientific expertise, FSSAI aims to develop a comprehensive and effective manual for food and water testing. This will ultimately contribute to a safer and healthier food supply for consumers.
