Manipur Labour Laws (Exemption from Renewal of Registration and License by Establishments) Act, 2024

The Manipur Government issued a notification on March 15, 2024, introducing the Manipur Labour Laws (Exemption from Renewal of Registration and License by Establishments) Act, 2024. This legislation, which came into force on December 22, 2023, aims to exempt employers from the renewal of registration and license under certain labour laws in Manipur. 

The Act outlines that employers are required to furnish a Self-Certification form annually or within 30 days of completing relevant work, business, or operation, and failure to do so may result in a fine of up to ten thousand rupees. Additionally, it repeals the Manipur Labour Laws (Exemption from Renewal of Registration and License by Establishments) Ordinance, 2023, while ensuring that actions taken under the ordinance are deemed to have been done under the corresponding provisions of this Act.

This Act, which extends to the entire state of Manipur, defines key terms such as “employer” and “establishment,” and outlines the Acts to which it applies.
