The Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals on August 5, 2019, issued the Acetic Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2019, to provide Standard Mark as Specification for Acetic Acid, which shall be enforceable on the one hundred and eighty-first day from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has assigned Indian Standard Mark ‘IS 695 : 1986’ to Acetic Acid, in accordance with the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
However, no such certification will be required of the Acetic Acid meant for export purposes and having specifications according to the foreign buyer.
Further, along with BIS, District Industries Centre in the Department of Industries of the State Government is also authorized for enforcing Standard Mark requirement.
