The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced amendments to the Conformity Assessment Regulations, which will come into effect from March 8, 2024. These amendments aim to provide concessions in the annual minimum marking fee payable by various types of enterprises.
In accordance with the amendments, several changes have been made to the existing regulations. Notably, the amendments focus on providing concessions to micro, small, start-up, and women entrepreneur enterprises.
Under the revised regulations, a concession of 80% in the annual minimum marking fee payable by large-scale enterprises will be applicable to micro-scale enterprises until May 31, 2026. Similarly, small-scale enterprises will benefit from a 50% concession in the annual minimum marking fee during the same period.
Moreover, start-up enterprises will now receive an 80% concession in the annual minimum marking fee, effective immediately until May 31, 2026. Additionally, women entrepreneur enterprises will enjoy an extra 10% concession in the annual minimum marking fee payable by applicable scale enterprises, namely micro, small, or medium scale.
These amendments are expected to provide significant relief to enterprises, particularly smaller and women-led businesses, by reducing their financial burden related to conformity assessment. The BIS continues its efforts to support and promote entrepreneurship while maintaining quality standards across various sectors.
