Government’s Commitment to Healthcare Enhancement in Goa

The Nursing Education Institute (NEI) celebrated its Pre-Graduation and Annual Day at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, with a distinguished guest serving as the Chief Guest. The guest emphasized the pivotal role nurses play in maintaining healthcare quality and the Government’s dedication to improving infrastructure and nursing education. The guest highlighted the objective of ensuring accessible healthcare within Goa and forging collaborations with institutions to conduct surgeries locally, thereby minimizing the necessity for residents to travel for medical treatment. This Notification was published on 27.02.2024.

The Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospitals highlighted the incorporation of recent advancements and competency-based education in nursing curriculum. The Director of the Directorate of Health Service (DHS) emphasized the importance of compassion and respect in patient care, mentioning opportunities for nursing graduates under initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Mission to extend healthcare beyond hospitals. A Professor from Manipal College of Nursing stressed the pride parents and teachers take in students’ achievements and advocated for inter-professional collaboration in healthcare. She encouraged graduates to embrace technological advancements like AI while preserving the human touch in patient care. Additionally, she urged them to seek international experiences and return to contribute to their nation’s healthcare system. Prioritizing personal health was also emphasized for effective service provision. Overall, the event highlighted the Government’s efforts to improve healthcare accessibility and the importance of continuous learning and compassion in nursing practice.
