The Government of Goa on 01st MArch, 2024 issued a notification regarding the Goa Labour Welfare Fund (Amendment) Act, 2024 which further amends the Goa Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1986. The Act comes into force immediately upon its commencement and entails specific amendments to the principal Act.
One of the amendments is the substitution of the expression “Commissioner, Labour” with “Secretary to the Government in the Labour Department.” Additionally, another substitution is with regard to appointing the Commissioner, Labour and Employment as Secretary of the Board, who will serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the Board. These amendments bring about changes in the administrative structure and functioning of the Goa Labour Welfare Fund, reflecting the legislative intent to enhance the governance and operations of the fund.
