Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the Union Cabinet has given the green light for the establishment of two semiconductor manufacturing units in Gujarat. The Chief Minister of Gujarat expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for these pivotal projects, aimed at elevating Gujarat into a prominent position as a semiconductor manufacturing hub in India. During a recent Union Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister sanctioned the establishment of three semiconductor units, two in Gujarat and one in Assam, fostering the semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem within India. This Notification was published on 29.02.2024.
Approval has been granted for the construction of a semiconductor fabrication unit in Dholera and a semiconductor ATMP (Assembly, Testing, Marking, Packaging) unit in Sanand, scheduled to commence within the next 100 days. In Dholera, Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd and Power chip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation will jointly establish a plant with a cumulative investment of ₹91,000 crore, manufacturing 50,000 semiconductor wafers monthly. Meanwhile, CG Power, Renesas Electronics Corporation-Japan, and Stars Micro Electronics-Thailand will initiate the construction of a semiconductor ATMP plant in Sanand, with an investment totaling ₹7,600 crore. Notably, Sanand will witness the operation of two semiconductor ATMP plants. This progress is attributed to the guidance of the Prime Minister and the leadership of the Chief Minister of Gujarat, positioning Gujarat as a frontrunner in the semiconductor sector in India.
