The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers on 27th February, 2024 notified a new quality control order for Diesel Engines – NOx Reduction Agent AUS 32 after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards.
The order applies to AUS 32, which is an aqueous urea solution used as a NOx reduction agent in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) converter system of diesel engines. SCR converter systems are used to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from diesel engines. It shall apply to Diesel Engines – NOx Reduction Agent AUS 32 and shall not apply to goods or articles meant for export.
The order requires that AUS 32 manufactured or sold in India must conform to the latest version of the Indian Standard IS 17042 (Part-1): 2018, which is titled “Diesel Engines – NOx Reduction Agent AUS 32 – Specification.” The order also requires that AUS 32 manufactured or sold in India must bear the Standard Mark under a license from the BIS.
The BIS will be the certifying and enforcing authority for the order.
The order will come into effect 180 days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette of India.
